Krysana Maragh

Krysana Maragh is a first generation Jamaican-American, born in New York City, raised in Georgia. She attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia beginning her film studies with the mission of creating dynamic and diverse black characters. She holds a BA, double majoring in political science and media studies.

Krysana was accepted to Columbia University in 2021 in the MFA program at the School of the Arts, majoring in Film with a concentration in Screenwriting/Directing. She continues merging socio-cultural issues specializing in a genre she titles “Revenge of suburban black America.” Her work changes the conversation about Black exceptionalism and topples the myth of the model minority.
